Degree and Certificate Programs
The Barenboim-Said Akademie offers three different programs aimed at the different stages of a musician’s career development and musical skills. For musicians looking for undergraduate education, the Barenboim-Said Akademie offers an accredited, four-year Bachelor of Music degree in all orchestral instruments, piano, and composition. Non-accredited programs offered at the Barenboim-Said Akademie include a one-year Preparatory Program, for musicians facing extenuating life circumstances. The Barenboim-Said Akademie is a state-recognized institute of higher learning in accordance with Berlin higher education law.
A Supportive Environment
The Barenboim-Said Akademie offers full scholarships and stipends as well as housing to all Bachelor of Music and Preparatory Program students. Moreover, the Akademie offers one-on-one personalized academic advising, Alexander Technique courses and Counselling Services for all students free of charge.
Performance Opportunities
The world-renown Pierre Boulez Saal gives students a nurturing environment for taking their first steps into the spotlight: as part of their curriculum, students present several one-hour concerts during the academic year, introducing themselves to their audiences.
An International Ensemble
Students and faculty hail from over 26 countries representing a world of diverse backgrounds and experiences. The Akademie is also unique in that it focuses on admissions from the Middle East and North Africa.
