Falling Walls Lab in Israel 2025

This year, two Falling Walls Labs took place in Israel. Falling Walls Lab is a research and innovation pitching competition, where young researchers present ground-breaking work addressing urgent global issues. The winner of each competition will represent Israel in the global Falling Walls summit this November in Berlin! The first Falling Walls Lab was organized by ScienceAbroad – The Organization of Israeli Scientists Abroad & German Israeli Foundation for Scientific Research & Development (GIF). It was held online on July 14, 2025. Dr. Natalie Fardian-Melamed from Columbia University’s Department of Mechanical Engineering took the 1st place with her outstanding pitch: “Falling the Wall of Invisible Forces” As a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Global Fellow, Dr. Fardian Melamed’s cutting-edge research in nanoscale sensing holds exciting promise for biology, medicine, and physics. The second Falling Walls Lab Israel was organized by DAAD Lecturer Anne Gladitz from Tel Aviv University, together with the Israel Academy of Sciences and Humanities. The academy hosted the event on this last July 24th. It was truly inspiring to see such brilliant minds come together. Talented students and researchers who presented groundbreaking ideas, embodying curiosity, innovation, and the courage to dream big. Congratulations to the incredible winner, Hadas Omer of Technion for her truly “wall-breaking” project, “Breaking the Walls of Cardiovascular Disease!” This is a significant step forward in both medicine and science!
