The Fest Tarbut event was a free cultural festival held in Tel Aviv on November 20, 2025. Hosted by the German Embassy and partners like DAAD Israel, it aimed to foster cultural connection, with participation from DAAD alumni sharing study experiences
German universities, as is the case all over the world, have broad networks of international partners. Through cooperation programmes among higher education institutions, DAAD supports German universities in expanding these networks.
In the eyes of the DAAD, the end of a funding period marks the beginning of a long-standing relationship with us. The Käte Hamburger Research Centre global dis:connect (gd:c) invites master’s students and doctoral candidates in the humanities, as well as creative professionals at any career stage, to participate in a week-long summer school in Munich, Germany. There are no participation fees. Accommodation and travel expenses will be covered for all participants coming from outside Munich.
The summer school “Worlds in the Lab” (20–24 July 2026) at the Käte Hamburger Research Centre global dis:connect explores laboratories as sites where worlds are analyzed, modelled, and reimagined. Bringing together perspectives from the humanities and social sciences, it examines how practices such as simulation, modelling, and display make global relations visible — while also producing frictions, distortions, and asymmetries.

Applications invited for the Leo Baeck Fellowship Programme 2026/27, Deadline February 1st, 2026
We are happy to advertise the international Leo Baeck Fellowship Programme 2026/2027 (German academic year October 2026-September 2027). We invite applications from PhD students who carry out research in the field of German-Jewish history and culture. The programme is jointly organised by the Leo Baeck Institute London, the Leibniz Institute for Jewish History and Culture – Simon Dubnow in Leipzig and the Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes. Our programme is open to PhD candidates worldwide. The deadline for application is February 1st, 2026.
Fellows receive a stipend of 1,650 € a month. In addition a monthly research allowance of 100 € is available. Fellows can also apply for supplements for health insurance (max. 100 €/month) and childcare, as well as travel allowances to support research tips and participation at conferences abroad. Contributions to tuition fees outside Germany may also be granted (max. 10,000 € per calendar year) and monthly supplements outside Germany.
